Have Questions?
Have a look if you can can find them in our FAQ.
There are two airports on island, one on Saint Martin (French side) called; L’Espérance Airport, also known as Grand Case Airport (code: SFG) and one on Sint Maarten (Dutch side) called Princess Juliana International Airport (code: SXM). Both airports will bring you to St. Martin and as the island is small you’ll easily be able to get around.
Tip: There can be a (huge) price difference for flight tickets between the two airports. So have a look at both ‘destinations’ before you book your ticket SFG & SXM.
The most reliable way to get around is to rent a car or grab a taxi. Please take note that there is no (reliable) public transportation on our beautiful island so we strongly recommend you to go for the reliable option.
On the French side they use EURO but they also accept US Dollars.
On the Dutch side they use US Dollars and Antillean Gilders (NAF) but sometimes they also accept EURO.
Tip: As most businesses will use a fixed exchange rate it is saves money to pay in EURO on the French side and US Dollar on the Dutch side.
GoKiteSurfing Orient (Orient Bay Beach) is the HeadQuarter of the Caribbean Foiling Championships. It is the location to finalize registration, listen to the morning briefings, the place to find the organizers, to ask questions, hand in protests, eat your lunch and find the Notice Board. It is also the place where visitors can relax, friends can watch the races and you can meet your competitors/rivals. It is where you need and want to be!
In order to keep everybody is safe there are several safety precautions in place:
-A helmet and a Personal Flotation Device are mandatory.
-Everybody is required to carry a tracking device, which will be your own phone. This will be in the form of an application that competitors will be able to download on their smartphone. (More information about this closer to the event)
-The competitors are bound to stay within 2 miles of the shore.
-There will be safety boats and Jet ski’s at the courses. Number of boats depend on the type of courses raced that day.
Competitors are mandatory to have a licence and medical certificate with the mention “sailing in competition” from the Fédération Francaise de Voile (FFV)/French Sailing Federation to compete in the Caribbean Foiling Championships. If the competitor doesn’t possess an FFV license and medical certificate: It is possible to obtain an FFV license during Registration day (Thursday December 9, 2021). There will be a doctor at the registration location to perform a basic health exam. The costs of the FFV license including medical exam are:
4 days License 30€
One-year License 58,50€
Minor License one-year (under 18) 29,50€
Every first start and last finish of each Race Day will be in Oriënt Bay/Baie Orientale in St. Martin. Each morning there will be a briefing at the HeadQuarters: GoKiteSurfing, Orient Bay. At these morning briefings the exact location of the start, course and finish will discussed.
As the playing field keeps growing we have different rules for the different classes:
-Kite- & Wingfoil: Please bring your gear every morning to the Head Quarters and take it ‘home’ when you head back for some rest.
-Windfoil: As your gear is very big you can make use of the storage container at GoKitesurfing Orient.
If, due to any circumstances, these storage-rules aren’t an option for you please let us know before the event.
The planned courses can be found under Official Documents together with the Sailing Instructions (SI). Please not that these courses are for reference only. For the best racing experience the actual courses raced during the event will be announced during the Daily Morning Briefing.
