We hope so as Antigua will open its doors for the first edition of the Antigua Wingfoil Championship on May 1-2-3, 2023.
Steady trade winds, crystal clear waters and an average temperature of 25°C are the building blocks for spectacular racing conditions! Come and enjoy 3 days full of smiles, camaraderie and most of all a lot of fun!
Winging seems to bridge a gap across watersports-enthusiasts, and we are excited to join forces with one of the world’s major sailing events, the 54th Antigua Sailing Week and host a Wingfoil Class. This is a major step in organizing more large foiling events here in the Caribbean.
Race where the big boats race, this is an event that you will want to check off your bucket list! We hope to welcome you to our slice of paradise in May!

Wingfoiling is on the rise! The sport has been gaining traction over the past year. It seems to sit somewhere between Kitefoiling and Windfoiling, it combines great aspects of these sports into something that feels completely new.
As the Caribbean Foiling Championships is intended to give foilers a race platform in the Caribbean, we will be adding a Wingfoil Race class to the 2021 event!
We believe that foiling is intended to promote interest, excitement and engagement in the sport. It caters not just to Olympic level sailors but to a broad array of participants. The Caribbean Championships is for everybody: Kitefoilers, Windfoilers, Wingfoilers, Professionals, Amateurs, Adults & Rising Stars.
Within the Wingfoil Discipline there can be vast individual differences in competitive levels. To suit all needs there are two groups for this category; the professional and the leisure group. By doing this you will race against riders of the same skill level, which will result in competitive racing for everybody. While the choice for Pro or Leisure discipline is up to you the organization reserves the right to make changes to the classes in order to create the best race experience for all competitors.
Pro: Able to tack upwind and pump downwind without the wing
Leisure: able to ride in all directions and jibe both ways
.
The Antigua Wingfoil Championship will celebrate its first edition in 2023 from 01-03 May and will be part of the famous Antigua Sailing Week
The Wingfoilers will compete using a separate start line and custom-tailored courses during the first half of ASW 2023. It will feature three consecutive days of racing, including two days on a fast-paced course in Falmouth Harbour/Pigeon Point and a long-distance downwinder along the island’s southwest coast to coincide with the Lay Day activities on May 3. The foilers will start right off Pigeon Point Beach, adding even more excitement to that day’s fun activities.
The Long Distance Race is a huge downwinder. A leg destroying stretch of 8 Nautical Miles from Pigeon Point to Turners Beach. Who will be able to set an unbeatable record?

Tiger Tyson
Antigua and Barbuda’s Kitefoil Pro.
'The addition of this exponentially growing sport to this historic event will be thrilling for participants and mesmerising for spectators to discover. '
Yachts from all over the world will arrive in English and Falmouth Harbours to participate in the one of the world’s major sailing events, the 54th Antigua Sailing Week – to be held from the 30th April – 5 May, 2023. From small beginnings this regatta has developed over more than 50 years to become one of the preeminent yacht racing events in the Caribbean and one of the most prestigious worldwide.
This year will be the first year whereas an existing Caribbean Regatta will integrate a foiling discipline in their schedule.
During Antigua Sailing Week's 7-day Regatta, the Wingfoil discipline will partake during 3 of the Regatta days held from 1st May - 3rd May, 2023.

Jaime Torres
ASW Race Manager
'“Foiling is the new sailing frontier. We have had foiling cats race in ASW before but never a class dedicated to foiling craft. We are excited to welcome the hotbed of the foiling future into ASW. It will be a fast, fun, and colorful addition to our event!”'

After the challenging first 2 days of racing and equal days of celebrating, we will have our final and most intense race ‘Long Distance Downwinder’. Whereas this day will be a lay day at Pigeon Point for most sailors, we will start our final race from Pigeon Point/Falmouth Harbour to Turners Beach.
After this leg destroying stretch we will head back to Pigeon Point beach, to merge with the sailors and enjoy the hot barbecues, cold beers and fun games throughout the day. Or if chillaxing with champagne on beach loungers is more your speed, you can decide!
The Antigua Wingfoil Championship will have its ‘Grand Prize Giving’ at Pigeon Point beach during Lay Day!
The Lay Day Beach Party is an all day affair. On Wednesday May 3, the event starts at 11am, and a full schedule will be announced nearer the time but will include fun activities in and out of the water include yoga, dinghy racing, swimming challenges, giant board games, Stand Up Paddle Board rally, tug o’ war, foiling tryouts and much more.
