Winging seems to bridge a gap across watersports-enthusiasts, and we are excited to join forces with one of the worldโs major sailing events, the 55th Antigua Sailing Week and host a Wingfoil Class. This is a major step in organizing more large foiling events here in the Caribbean.
Race where the big boats race, this is an event that you will want to check off your bucket list! We hope to welcome you to our slice of paradise in April!

Yachts from all over the world will arrive in English and Falmouth Harbours to participate in the one of the worldโs major sailing events, the 55th Antigua Sailing Week โ to be held from the 25th of April โ 4th of May, 2023. 'โFoiling is the new sailing frontier. We have had foiling cats race in ASW before but never a class dedicated to foiling craft. We are excited to welcome the hotbed of the foiling future into ASW. It will be a fast, fun, and colorful addition to our event!โ'

Wingfoiling is on the rise! The sport has been gaining traction over the past year. It seems to sit somewhere between Kitefoiling and Windfoiling, it combines great aspects of these sports into something that feels completely new.
As the Caribbean Foiling Championships is intended to give foilers a race platform in the Caribbean, we will be adding a Wingfoil Race class to the 2021 event!
We believe that foiling is intended to promote interest, excitement and engagement in the sport. It caters not just to Olympic level sailors but to a broad array of participants. The Caribbean Championships is for everybody: Kitefoilers, Windfoilers, Wingfoilers, Professionals, Amateurs, Adults & Rising Stars.
Within the Wingfoil Discipline there can be vast individual differences in competitive levels. To suit all needs there are two groups for this category; the professional and the leisure group. By doing this you will race against riders of the same skill level, which will result in competitive racing for everybody. While the choice for Pro or Leisure discipline is up to you the organization reserves the right to make changes to the classes in order to create the best race experience for all competitors.
Pro: Able to tack upwind and pump downwind without the wing
Leisure: able to ride in all directions and jibe both ways

The Antigua Wingfoil Championship will celebrate its first edition in 2023 from 25-27 April and will be part of the famous Antigua Sailing Week
The Wingfoilers will compete using a separate start line and custom-tailored courses. The event will feature three consecutive days of racing, including two days of fast-paced course racing and a long-distance downwinder along the islandโs southwest coast. The course racing is set to take place in Falmouth Harbour with the option of moving to cades reef in case of marginal wind conditions.
The Long Distance Race is a huge downwinder. A leg destroying stretch of 8 Nautical Miles from Pigeon Point to Turners Beach. Who will be able to set an unbeatable record?

'The addition of this exponentially growing sport to this historic event will be thrilling for participants and mesmerising for spectators to discover. '
While Falmouth Harbour serves as an excellent racing location, it does present certain limitations, particularly when wind speeds fall below 15 knots, resulting in inconsistent racing conditions due to patchy winds within the bay. Therefore, we have taken proactive measures to identify an alternative location to ensure consistent racing experiences.
When the conditions are not favorable to race in Falmouth Harbour, we have designated Cades Reef as our alternative racing location. Situated between Johnson's Point and the reef, this area offers minimal seaweed interference and has an added benefit of enhanced breeze, courtesy of the wind channeling along the coast.
To facilitate the transition to Cades Reef, all competitors will be transported using one of the ASW Sunsail committee boat catamarans, accompanied by a rib serving as a mark laying and safety boat. Due to the logistical challenges, races will transition to courses with the same start and finish lines upon relocating to Cades Reef.

The Long Distance Race, a huge downwinder is leg destroying stretch of 8 Nautical Miles.
We are fully aware that there will be sailors that might like to partake in this unique experience, which is held on Layday (May 3). Those that only want to/can partake in this Long Distance Race will need to qualify.
Start: Pigeon Point (Lay day location)
Finish: Turners Beach (shuttle back to Pigeon Point)
Has good control over the foil. Able to jibe both ways without coming of the foil. Comfortably ride switch in both directions.
Pro (partaking all 3 days): The pro class will automatically be qualified for the long distance race
Leisure (partaking all 3 days): Qualification will be done through a qualification race which, weather permitting, will be sailed on Race Day 2.
Leisure/Pro solely registering for the Long Distance Race: Must show proof of their riding capability to the technical committee. This can be done by electronic means or in person during the event window.
